I could have bought a car but I bought a decent camera and lens, I am retired and now I have a hobby that I can share with those who cannot afford or use a good camera and lens, especially those who are housebound and cannot see things outside of the front door.
my blogs started to take a turn after seeing a polio victims blog, http://ginnyswildlife.blogspot.com/
she does all her photography from her living room widow read her blogs on life,I get bad days where I cannot go out, or rather do not feel like going out, read my blogspots and you will understand why I do not feel like going out especially when the place is like an assault course and have to make a real effort to get out there and pursue my hobby. today I went to the Nile, I am glad I went again even while doing this blog I have had to go and rest my back for a couple of hours after the assault course, I can call myself an Egyptian assault course victim, but my unsurance will not let me claim.because I came here with a back problem so its self inflicted,
ok what did I see today I saw a couple of things that make me very angry like the Little black egret cannot call it a little white egret not after it feeds in this polluted Nile water,
;
I shared the prom with a laughing dove today these are quite happy here so are the pigeons, the egyptians are nuts and banana lovers where they spit out any unwanted bits in their mouths for the birds.
the bits of unwanted food and other stuff like horse shit in the roads attract the flies and that also encourages the birds;- swallows have a great feeding time here I love watching them fly at high speed catching the flies along the streets weaving in and out of pedestrians that has disturbed the flies by standing in the latest patch of horse/donkey poo.
the lower path on the promenade is another good place to watch the birds most of the smaller birds feed here in the vegetation in the next photo i took of this bush with blue flowers there is a young male Nile valley sun bird i was not taking the bird photo as i already have lots of photos of this species on my bird blog.[see side panel birdinginegypt]
'
so engrosed in looking at flowers that will be on my next post, I almost missed these two kittens asleep in the cruise boats rubbish strewn on the path and in the gardens,
a short walk along the prom
and already I have seen 5 species of birds I tend to forget about the birds I see every day from my balcony ,
the laughing doves and sparrows, I get much pleasure from watching these birds on my bad back days,
BLACK WINGED GULL.
A PAIR OF LAUGHING DOVES
A SKINK SUNBATHING ON A DISUSED SEWER PIPE FROM THE BOATS
ALL THE SEWAGE WASTE AND DIESEL OIL PUMPS ARE NOW REMOVED AND WAITING TO GO TO THE NEW MOORINGS 4 KILOMETRE FROM HERE,
BUT THE BOATS ARE STILL HERE REFUSING TO GO TO THE NEW MOORINGS OR BERTHS UP RIVER. THIS THE SS SUDAN IS NOW A DIESEL POWERED BOAT AND ONE OF THE WORST BOATS FOR POLLUTING THE NILE THE BOAT ITSELF IS RAT INFESTED. I HAVE SEEN THE RATS COME TO SHORE ON THE GANG PLANKS AND THE POLE BUFFER TO THE BANK TIE LINE.
THE SUDAN IS THE BOAT FEATURED IN THE FILM [DEATH ON THE NILE]
NOT FAR FROM THE SUDAN WE HAVE A FLOAT TRAP FOR THE RUBBISH
A HOME MADE TRAP
AND A TIP FOR THE WC WASTE BINS WHERE TOURIST ARE TOLD TO PUT THE BUM WIPES IN. USUALLY THESE ARE DUMPED OVER BOARD BY THE CLEANERS BUT TODAY THE NILE HAS GONE DOWN A FT OVERNIGHT, SO THE BUM WIPES FELL ON THE BANK NOT IN THE WATER, DISPOSING OF WASTE OVER BOARD SEEMS TO BE THE NORM HERE .
AND WHO SUFFERS FROM THIS POLLUTION
WELL I DO IF I DRINK THE NILE TAP WATER, A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF THE LOCALS HAVE KINDEY PROBLEMS AS I WAS TOLD RECENTLY BY A DOCTOR FROM THE KIDNEY RENAL UNIT IN THE INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL LUXOR.
SO DOES THE WILD LIFE SUFFER FROM THE CONTAMINATION OF TOXIC AND CHEMICAL WASTE THAT INCLUDES OIL.
I CANNOT CALL THIS A LITTLE WHITE EGRET, NO ONE WILL BELIEVE ME. BUT SOON IT WILL BE DEAD AND THE FISH WILL IN TURN EAT IT AND THEY TOO WILL DIE.I CANNOT SAY ITS A LIFE CYCLE EITHER, SO WE SHALL SAY DEATH CYCLE, DUE TO MAN'S GREED
